CBD and Hemp Extraction

Laboratory equipment for CBD extraction at PierisThe bulk CBD hemp extracts we produce can be divided into different categories according to the process they have undergone. Depending on which product you choose, the different types of extracts have different advantages.

CO2-extraction

We extract CBD with CO2 and this results in an extract that is solid like a paste. The extract from the first extraction is a thick, golden brown paste. The extraction can vary in percentage of CBD and CBDa from 3% (CBD) to 30% (CBD). By default we provide you with 7% (CBD) or 7% raw (CBD + CBDa). The reason we set 7% as the standard percentage is because the THC content is then less than 0.3% and it is possible to easily produce a standard product in large quantities. If you have special needs for this type of product, please let us know how there are possibilities to make the percentage of CBD or CBDa higher.

Cold filtered extraction

The extract contains many waxes that make the product like a paste.

To remove the waxes, there are two different approaches, which we call filtration:

  • Cold filtration
  • Hot filtration

In cold filtration we work with low temperatures and remove one type of wax from the first extract. The result is a looser extract with a lower viscosity, which we call cold filtered CBD extract.

As the viscosity is lower, the product is more fluid, making it easy to mix with other products and keeping the final product more fluid. The cold filtered CBD extract can vary in percentage of CBD and CBDa from 10% to 50%. By default we provide you with 20% (CBD) or 20% raw (CBD + CBDa). If you have special requirements for this type of product, please let us know how there are ways to make the percentage of CBD or CBDa higher.

Hot filtered extracts – Golden CBD Oil

We work with higher temperatures and remove another type of wax from the cold filtered CBD extract. The result is a looser extract with lower viscosity, which we call hot filtered CBD extract or “the golden oil”. The viscosity is lower than the first CBD extraction, but higher than in the cold filtered CBD extract. The texture is more like coconut oil, as it becomes liquid when the temperature is high and solid again when the temperature is below 20°C.

The hot-filtered CBD extract can vary from 10% to 50% in percentages related to CBD and CBDa. As a standard we supply 20% (CBD) or 20% raw (CBD + CBDa). If you have special requirements for this type of product, please let us know so we can find ways for you to increase the percentage of CBD or CBDa.

100% Pure CBD

By continuing the filtration process of our extracts, we produce our 100% pure CBD, which can be used for various production goals. As an example, we usually mix our extracts with organic hemp seed oil to loosen the material. For Vape products we recommend to use 100% CBD with no additives.
